China's First Space Solar Power Plant Experimental Base Settled In Chongqing Lushan
Nov 19, 2018
China's first space solar power plant experimental base will be settled in the Laoshan National High-tech Zone. At present, the project is in the stage of land acquisition and construction, and construction will start in early 2019. It is expected that the experiment will be carried out in June of the same year and will be completed by the end of the year.
A space solar power station is a power generation system that builds solar power stations in Earth orbit, collects solar energy, and provides continuous power to the ground through wireless transmission. Compared with energy sources such as oil and natural gas, space solar energy is an efficient, long-lasting and clean energy source. Compared with ground solar power stations, wind power and hydropower, space solar power plants are not affected by natural factors such as day and night, weather, and regional latitude. The large-scale collection and conversion of solar energy has higher utilization rate of solar energy, and the power generation capacity can reach 1 to 5 GW, and the power generation is equivalent to that of the ground nuclear power plant. Not only that, its power is transmitted wirelessly, and it can be used for directional power supply or mobile power supply in remote areas and disaster-affected areas. Its extended wireless energy transmission, wireless communication and other related technologies can be widely used in military and civilian fields. Energy utilization, technological innovation, etc. are of great significance.
The space solar power plant experimental base project to be settled in the Laoshan National High-tech Zone will be located in Heping Village, Fulu Town, the district. The location of Heping Village is because the area is surrounded by mountains on three sides.
It has the characteristics of humid climate, long frost-free period, more sunshine, less cloud and rain, and can ensure the smooth progress of the experiment. The initial investment of the project is about 100 million yuan, and the total construction area is about 200 acres. Among them, the core test area is about 106 mu, including the space test site, balloon platform debugging hall, laboratory building and other facilities; the peripheral isolation area is about 94 acres, planting space to carry plants. It is understood that the technical team of the experimental base of Laoshan Space Solar Power Station is mainly composed of the academician Yang Shizhong of Chongqing University, the State Key Laboratory of Transmission and Distribution Equipment and System Security and New Technology of Chongqing University, the academician of Duan Baoyan of Xidian University of Electronic Science and Technology, and Chinese space technology. The Institute of Microwave Technology of Xi'an Branch of the Institute and the Space Energy Technology Research Center of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Qian Xuesen Space Technology Laboratory were jointly established.
