Minister Of Jordan Lays The Foundation For The 52MW Solar Project

ecently, Jordanian Energy Minister Hala Zawati laid the foundation stone for the 52MW solar project developed by the consortium of American AES, Amoi Corporation of Japan and Nebras Power of Qatar in Al-Madounah, eastern United States.

This AM Solar's $50 million project is based on construction, ownership, and operations (BOO) and is expected to be connected to the NEPCO grid in 2019, generating approximately 77 GWh per year. 

Jordanian Minister Zawati said at the ceremony that wind and solar power now occupy 800MW capacity. By 2020, Jordan's target is 1.6 GW of renewable energy, accounting for about 20% of the country's energy needs. 

Wärtsilä signed the EPC contract for the project in December 2017, which is the world's first utility-scale solar project.
