Bidding results for 2GW solar power plant project in Abu Dhabi, UAE will be announced in the first quarter.
The Middle East Economic Digest reported on January 14th that the Emirates Hydropower Company (Ewec) is evaluating a contract bid received last year for the development of the Abu Dhabi 2GW Solar Independent Power Generation Project (IPP).
The head of the company's privatization division, Adel, said that the company plans to announce the winning bidder in the first quarter and sign a power purchase agreement with it to complete the financial closing in the second quarter.
The project is located in the Al Dhafra area of Abu Dhabi. It is expected to be put into commercial operation in April 2022 and will provide electricity to 110,000 homes.
Ewec received five bids in November last year from Acwa of Saudi Arabia, Engie of France, Jinko of China and EDF of France, Marubeni of France and Total of France, Softbank Energy of Japan and Eni of Italy.
