Saudi REPDO4-AHK Solar Power Project Achieves Full Capacity Grid Connection
Aug 28, 2025
On August 22 at 17:20 local time in Medina, Saudi Arabia, the REPDO4-AHK photovoltaic solar power project, constructed by the East China Institute of PowerChina, successfully achieved a full-capacity grid connection of 1230MWp. This milestone marks the project's official entry into commercial operation and represents a significant advancement in Saudi Arabia's renewable energy development.
Since the start of construction more than fifteen months ago, the large-scale solar project has successfully completed its grid connection despite facing challenges such as extreme heat, frequent sandstorms, international logistics constraints, and limited local resources. The project team established an efficient cross-time-zone, cross-language, and cross-cultural collaboration system, ensuring high-quality construction progress. It also set a record for the fastest construction of a utility-scale photovoltaic solar plant in Saudi Arabia, fully demonstrating PowerChina's expertise in solar energy system integration and project execution under complex international conditions.

In addition to the successful delivery of this solar power project, the REPDO4-AHK team has focused on developing local capacity. Comprehensive training and operational support systems covering construction, commissioning, safety, and technology have been established, contributing to local employment and workforce growth. The project has already recorded more than 6 million safe working hours without major incidents, earning recognition for excellent ESG performance from the project owner, Masdar, and winning the "International Safety Award" from the British Safety Council.
This achievement highlights the growing importance of clean energy, solar panel installation, and utility-scale solar farms in advancing global renewable energy goals. Projects like REPDO4-AHK not only accelerate the energy transition in the Middle East but also showcase how international cooperation and advanced solar mounting systems can deliver sustainable solutions worldwide.
