Romania's Cemacon Invests €1.05m in 455Wp PV Park

Romanian building materials producer Cemacon said it plans to invest EUR1.053 million (USD1.11 million) in the construction of a 455-watt photovoltaic park, which Cemacon said in a statement filed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange on Monday (27 June) would start this autumn.

The installed capacity of the photovoltaic park will be more than 1MWh and the system will consist of 2,198 photovoltaic panels and 18 50 kW inverters. The project will help to reduce CO2 emissions by 299 tonnes per year.

The company estimates that it will save 165,000 euros per year after the park has been converted to renewable energy. Some €473,000 of the total investment will be covered by a grant from the Norwegian Organisation for International Development (Norway).

Cemacon was founded in 1969 in Zalau and specialises in the production of ceramic tiles.In 2010, the company began operating a second factory in Recea and was listed on the BVB.In 2018, the company opened a lintel factory.In 2021, Cemacon said it plans to develop a new line of environmentally friendly ceramic coatings.

Romanian DIY retailer Dedeman owns 77.8% of Cemacon and PIF Industrial owns 16.67%, with the rest of the shares floating freely on the BVB.

Cemacon shares were flat at 0.6780 lei (0.15/€0.14) on the BVB as of 1005 CET on Tuesday. (1 euro = 4.9457 lei)
