Aug 14, 2025

Recently, Israeli renewable energy company Nofar Energy announced it will receive a €68 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance three large-scale solar power projects in Romania with a total installed capacity of 515 MW. The portfolio includes the 265.5 MW Corbii Mari photovoltaic plant, which is set to become one of the largest solar farms in the country.

According to the EBRD, the financing is expected to be approved on September 10, 2025, and will be allocated to three Romanian subsidiaries: Corbii Mari Solar Power Plant, Aviv Renewable Energy Investments, and Slobozia Solar Energy Project. These utility-scale solar installations will significantly expand Romania's renewable energy capacity and strengthen its clean energy transition.

Nofar Energy's subsidiaries plan to build a 175.7 MW solar farm in Iepureşti, a 74 MW photovoltaic project in Slobozia (Giurgiu County), and the 265.5 MW Corbii Mari solar park in Dâmbovița County. Together, these solar energy facilities are expected to generate 676 GWh annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 280,000 tonnes each year, contributing to both Romania's green energy targets and the EU's renewable energy goals.
