Construction Begins On Sweden'S Largest Solar Farm

Neoen and Alight have embarked on the construction of the 100 MW Hultsfred solar farm in Sweden. The project is said to be the largest solar power plant in Sweden when completed.

French independent power producer (IPP) Neoen and Swedish solar developer Alight said this morning that they have begun co-development and ownership of the 100 MW Hultsfred solar project in Småland, Sweden.

Bouygues Energies & Services and Solkompaniet will lead the design, procurement and construction (EPC) contract construction work for this Nordic project, the companies said in a press release. The project will install low-carbon photovoltaic panels around the runway of Hultsfjord Airport and connect to Germany's largest electricity supplier, E.ON.E.ON Energidistribution's CEO noted that this is important for securing the electricity supply in southern Sweden.

The developer plans to have the project operational from 2025 and sell 95% of the electricity to H&M Group through a long-term power purchase agreement, supporting the retailer in reaching its renewable energy targets. The exact use of the electricity supply has not yet been determined.
