Apr 02, 2022

Romania's energy ministry said it had issued a call for proposals for green energy projects worth 457.7 million euros ($510.3 million), co-financed by the country's national recovery and the European Union. Applications for solar and wind projects can be submitted between March 31 and May 31, the ministry said in a press release on Wednesday (March 30).

Energy Minister Virgil Popescu said: "The implementation of projects eligible for funding under this aid scheme is aimed at increasing the installed capacity of wind and solar power by approximately 950 MW, with or without integrated storage facilities. The investment is our country's Long-term solutions for energy security.”

The maximum amount of aid for a single investment project cannot exceed EUR 15 million.

For wind energy, state aid will be awarded under the scheme in the amount of up to 1.3 million euros per megawatt for installed capacity between 0.2 megawatt and 1 megawatt, and 650,000 euros per megawatt for installed capacity above 1 megawatt .

For solar, state aid is €750,000 per MW for installed capacity between 0.2 MW and 1 MW and €425,000 per MW for installed capacity above 1 MW.

Energy projects benefit from a total allocation of €1.62 billion under the NRRP.

Romania will benefit from grants totalling 14.2 billion euros ($16.6 billion) and loans of 14.9 billion euros, under the NRRP approved by the European Commission in September. ($1=0.8969 EUR)
