Poland's Largest Solar Power Plant Comes Online

Goldbeck Solar has launched a 204MW solar power plant in Zwartowo in northern Poland. The project is the first phase of a 290MW power generation programme, which also includes another 86MW plant.
German developer Goldbeck Solar says it has launched a 204MW solar power plant in Zwartowo, northern Poland.
The project is the first phase of a 290MW power generation programme, which also includes another 86MW plant. The company is investing PLN 635 million (approximately US$128.8 million) in the 204MW plant. Construction of the solar power plant, which covers an area of 300 hectares, is due to begin in the first quarter of 2021.
The plant is owned by Stigma, a special purpose company owned by Green Energy Services, a subsidiary of Solarnet Investment and Goldbeck. Green Energy Services is a joint venture between Solarnet Investment and Solarnet Investment GmbH, a division of Energy Consult. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Polish banks Pekao and PKO are the main lenders for the project.
The inverters for the solar power plant were supplied by German manufacturer SMA Solar Technology and the solar modules were supplied by Chinese manufacturer Suntech.
"For Goldbeck Solar, the Zwartowo plant plays an important role on two fronts: Zwartowo is not only the largest plant the solar specialist has built to date, but also a symbol of Joachim Goldbeck's determination," the company said in a statement. said, "Even with ongoing challenges such as supply chain disruptions and rising component prices, the project's advancement is unstoppable."
