PT PLN (Persero), Indonesia's state-owned power company, commissioned Indonesia's largest floating photovoltaic project (PLTS) with an installed capacity of 561 KWP, located in the village of Tambak Lorok, within the municipality of Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia.

The project is operated by PT PLN Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of PLN Indonesia.

The floating wind project is part of the 920-kWp floating wind project, built on the site of PLN IP's Power Generation Unit (PGU) gas and steam power project (PLTGU) in Semarang, Indonesia.

Darmawan Prasodjo, Chairman of PLN Indonesia, said the construction of the floating photovoltaic project demonstrates the country's commitment to encouraging energy conversion projects, reducing the impact of climate change and achieving 100% carbon neutral emissions (NZE) by 2060.

In order to achieve the 100% carbon neutrality target, PLN Indonesia has established a number of initiatives, such as no new contracts involving the construction of coal-fired power plants.

Instead, PLN Indonesia has started building power plants that are powered by new renewable energy sources, and PLN's plan is to switch from fossil fuel-based to renewable energy-based power plants.

Edwin Nugraha Putra, President of PLN Indonesia, said that the construction of the floating photovoltaic project is a solemn commitment by PLN IP and its subsidiary PT Indo Energi Hijau to society as a whole and will help accelerate the energy conversion process in Indonesia.
