According to foreign media reports, Mexican PV module manufacturer Solarever has announced plans to invest US$1 billion in the construction of an acrylic PV module production plant in Zacoalcode Torres, Jalisco. The new factory will mainly produce photovoltaic cells and modules and will cover an area of about 1,000 square metres.
Simon Zhao, CEO of Eversolar, said, "Investing in this type of project is crucial, as Jalisco is a state with great potential and a skilled workforce in this sector, which is why the state has experienced impressive economic growth. We hope to continue to develop and promote clean energy throughout Mexico."
Solarever also announced plans in May this year to increase the capacity of its photovoltaic module production plant in Tecoman, southwest Mexico, from 500MW to 1GW. in a media interview at the time, Simon Zhao said, "We also plan to list on the New York Stock Exchange and to expand our business in electric vehicles and energy storage. "
The company recently signed an agreement with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) to establish an R&D centre for the development of photovoltaic, electric vehicle and energy storage technologies.
In another development project, Brazilian PV systems supplier Sengi Solar announced an investment of R$440 million (approximately US$85 million) for the construction of two PV module production plants in the states of Paraná and Pernambuco.
These investments are expected to create around 500 jobs in both regions, with one of the plants located at Sengi Solar's headquarters in Cascavel, Paraná, scheduled to start operations in September this year, and the other plant located at the Pernambuco branch in Ipojuca, scheduled to start up in March 2023.
These production plants will produce PV modules with power ratings of 4,400W to 670W and will be manufactured using bifacial and double-glass technology.
Everton Fardin, General Manager of Sengi Solar, claims that the plan is to fully meet the growth of the Brazilian PV market by supplying PV products to the more than 80 PV equipment distributors operating in the country with short delivery times, good after-sales service and advanced technology.
Sengi Solar, a subsidiary of the Tangipar Group, provides vertical solutions for the entire energy chain, from manufacturing and distribution to installation. The company employs around 800 people at its headquarters and distribution centre and operates mainly in the energy sector, including commercial products for distributed and centralised power systems and the supply and distribution of photovoltaic equipment.
