Jordanian Industrial Sector Joint Solar Project Will Benefit Corporate Electricity Prices
Jan 08, 2020
The Jordan Times reported that on January 6, Fathi Jaghbir, chairman of the Amman Industrial Association, said that tenders for solar projects in the industrial sector would soon begin. The project will provide power to factories at preferential prices and increase Jordan's national industrial competitiveness.
When meeting with representatives of relevant industrial enterprises, the Industry Association stated that the installed capacity of the project was 80 MW. So far, 70 companies have expressed interest in the project. It is expected that by the end of January, the installed capacity will reach 100 MW.
The Jordanian cabinet approved the project in the second half of 2018. The relevant chamber of commerce has established a joint technical committee to follow up the project implementation process. At present, the project land and 100 MW power grid connection have been approved. The end of January is the deadline for industrial companies to express their willingness to join. The board of directors of the joint company will be elected after the award.
