Italy Offers 1.5 Billion Euros in Rebates For Agri-building PV

The Italian government wants to deploy 375MW of PV capacity through a new tax rebate scheme. Funding will be provided through a post-Covid recovery plan. The Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policy has launched a new rebate scheme to help agribusinesses install rooftop photovoltaic systems on agricultural buildings.
The program has a budget of 1.5 billion euros ($1.6 billion) and is funded from the Post-Covid 19 Recovery Fund. The financial details of the rebate remain unclear. The first call for subsidized projects will be launched soon.
The Italian government stated: “The purpose of this measure is to support investments in the construction of photovoltaic systems on buildings intended for productive use in the agricultural, livestock and agro-industrial sectors. About 40% of the resources will be used to finance Abruzzo, Basili Projects in southern regions such as Cata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Apulia, Sardinia and Sicily.”
The Italian Recovery Fund also includes 2.2 billion euros for energy communities and 1.1 billion euros for agricultural photovoltaics.
