Indonesia's Kirata Floating PV Project Completes Site-Wide PV Module Installation
Oct 13, 2023

Recently, the floating photovoltaic project in Chirata, Indonesia, which was constructed by a company, has successfully completed the installation of PV modules in the whole field, and formally entered the stage of debugging and grid connection. The project is the largest floating photovoltaic power station in Southeast Asia, and also the first floating photovoltaic power generation project in Indonesia constructed by Chinese enterprises.
The 145 MW floating PV power station project in Chirata, Indonesia is located on the reservoir of Chirata Power Station in West Java Province of Indonesia, about 130 kilometers away from the capital city of Jakarta. The project has a total installed capacity of 145 MW on the AC side, and is expected to provide enough power for 50,000 households after completion, greatly easing the tension in power supply around West Java, Indonesia, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, helping the Indonesian government to achieve the target of renewable energy share as soon as possible with photovoltaic power generation, reducing water evaporation and inhibiting algae growth, which is conducive to aquaculture and daily fishing, and has a significant impact on promoting the local economy, renewable energy development, expanding employment, and so on. It has an important positive role in promoting local economic development, renewable energy development and expanding employment.

Wanhos provides reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly floating solar system solutions for floating projects in a variety of water environments such as reservoirs, ponds and lakes. Floating solar systems help conserve land resources and minimize the impact on the aquatic environment. The float portion of the Floating Solar Racking System is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which can withstand natural environmental changes and low temperatures. The system is easy to install and the non-slip pattern design on the upper surface of the float ensures safe maintenance.
Our floating photovoltaic system is UV-resistant, anti-aging, non-polluting and recyclable. In addition, the entire pontoon prevents water seepage and stagnation problems, making it suitable for efficient and sustainable use in a variety of water-based PV projects. Solar panels mounted on a body of water typically produce higher energy output due to the cooling effect of the water, thus optimizing the performance of the panels. In addition, the floating body can provide the added benefit of shading the water below, thus reducing water evaporation.
