Eurowind Energy Completes 60.2 MW Utility-Scale Solar Park in Romania With Government Support

Apr 17, 2025

Romania's Energy Minister Sebastian Bourdouja recently announced that Eurowind Energy's 60.2 MW photovoltaic park in Transylvania is expected to start operations by the end of April. This marks another important development in the country's growing solar energy sector.

The utility-scale project, located in Alba County, received €15 million in government funding, with the total investment reaching €47.2 million excluding VAT - €55 million in total. Construction began a year ago and has involved advanced solar panel installation techniques and durable solar mounting systems designed to withstand regional environmental conditions.

Solar Energy In Romania

Once operational, the system is projected to generate 104 GWh of clean electricity annually, significantly contributing to Romania's renewable energy goals. The installation forms part of nearly 600 MW of new capacity supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which focuses on expanding renewable energy projects in Europe.

In addition, the Romanian Ministry of Energy has prepared a €450 million grant program aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and promoting self-consumption, further accelerating demand for photovoltaic installations and related technologies.

Renewable Energy Projects Europe

As demand rises for reliable, scalable, and cost-effective solar infrastructure, especially in Eastern Europe, the need for optimized solar mounting solutions continues to grow. Projects like this demonstrate the increasing role of solar energy in Romania and reflect broader momentum across the European renewable energy market.
