Bendable Photovoltaic Cell Life Extended To 20 Years
Jul 04, 2024
Nagoya University in Japan has developed a technology that extends the life of the bendable, low-cost photovoltaic cell "chalcogenide" photovoltaic cells by 2 to 4 times. It can be extended to about 20 years, reaching a level comparable to that of mainstream photovoltaic cells made of silicon. The university will work with companies on manufacturing methods, with the aim of achieving practical application in the second half of the 2020s. This will promote the popularisation of next-generation photovoltaic cells that are conducive to cutting greenhouse gases.
