Beiersdorf Indonesia Factory Enters Photovoltaic Power Generation Production Mode

Recently, Beiersdorf, one of the world's largest skin care brands known as NIVEA, signed a long-term agreement with TotalEnergies, which plans to provide 20% of the green electricity for Beiersdorf's factories in Indonesia.

Under the agreement, the production site in Beiersdorf will be equipped with a 540 kWp solar power system installed by TotalEnergies. The system is expected to be operational from June 2022. The 830MWh of electricity generated each year will reduce carbon emissions by around 660 tonnes, equivalent to charging 71 million smartphones per year.

In addition to this, Beiersdorf will achieve cost savings for a period of 25 years by utilizing the clean energy generated by the system.

Beiersdorf's sustainability program "Care Beyond Skin", which has been in place since 2020, sets ambitious specific goals with which the company hopes to contribute positively to the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). contribute. The use of environmentally friendly technologies and the reduction of Beiersdorf's carbon footprint are at the heart of this sustainability program. 100% of all electricity consumed by Beiersdorf's global offices and production sites comes from renewable sources. In addition to purchasing 100% green electricity, Beiersdorf has installed photovoltaic systems at several of its production and office locations, including some plants installed by TotalEnergies in Indonesia.
