Azelio's thermal energy storage system successfully “Power generation” for the first time in Morocco's CSP park

The energy storage system designed by Swedish solar company Azelio has begun to successfully output electricity in the Noor Ouarzazate solar thermal-photovoltaic complex in Morocco as part of Azelio's energy storage verification project in Morocco.

The verification project was carried out by Masen in collaboration with Azelio.

Azelio has installed two energy storage modules in the park, which can convert excess electricity from photovoltaic power plants into thermal energy for storage. The stored thermal energy can be re-converted into electrical energy by Stirling generators for electricity demand.

Over the next few months, Azelio will monitor and evaluate the performance of the energy storage module on site and collect relevant data to prove the reliability of the solution to customers and investors.

According to CSPPLAZA, Azelio (formerly known as Cleanergy) is the world's leading disc stirling technology company. It is currently actively promoting the research and development and application of energy storage innovative solar thermal power generation technology based on the Stirling power generation principle.

Azelio's energy storage technology can be widely applied to renewable energy projects such as solar thermal, photovoltaic and wind power, as well as some off-grid projects.

The company also plans to install its energy storage systems in Oman, Pakistan and California.
