Amazon Again Accuses Tesla Solar Panels Of Fire

Beijing time on August 26 morning news, Wal-Mart is not the only company that suffered a fire on Tesla solar panels, Amazon also disclosed similar news on Friday.

Amazon said that in June 2018, the company fired on the roof of a warehouse in Redlands, Calif., involving a solar panel system installed at the SolarCity division of Tesla. The Seattle-based retail giant said via email that it has taken steps to protect its facilities and has no plans to install more Tesla solar systems.

Three days before Amazon released the news, Wal-Mart had just filed a lawsuit against Tesla accusing it of a poor quality panel that caused fires in more than six stores. As Tesla struggles to regain market share, the news is likely to further erode the company's solar business. Tesla acquired panel installer SolarCity for $2 billion three years ago. But the deal sparked a lot of controversy because SolarCity's then CEO was the cousin of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

In a lawsuit filed last Tuesday, Wal-Mart said it had leased or authorized the roof space of more than 240 stores to Tesla Energy. Two of the fires occurred in May 2018. Amazon said that Tesla installed a small number of solar systems on the company's facilities.

Tesla did not immediately comment on this, but the company said earlier Friday that it had found defects in the components used by the company in some of its systems. Tesla said in an e-mailed statement that the part called "connector" produced by Amphenol caused "failure and disconnection rates to be higher than our standards." The company has been working hard to replace this component.

Amphenol did not comment on this.
