According to foreign media reports, Engie Romania, the Romanian branch of French energy group Engie, said recently that it is building an 8.6MW photovoltaic power generation facility at a glass production plant operated by Saint Gobain Romania in the Muntenia region of southeastern Romania.

Upon completion, the project will be the first and largest self-consumption photovoltaic power generation facility in Romania, which will mainly provide electricity for the glass production plant and will meet about 20% of its electricity needs.

A spokesperson for Engie Romania said, "In a dynamic and volatile energy market, the deployment and use of renewable energy generation facilities on-site at customers' production facilities is a sustainable solution that provides cost predictability while significantly reducing carbon footprint.”

In addition, the Romanian government introduced new rules last year to facilitate bilateral power purchase agreements.
